Working with COURAGE - A Neuroqueer Affirming Practice Framework

$0.00

Led by lived-experience practitioners Claire and Seanna, this immersive training introduces a systemic, affirming approach to supporting neurodivergent individuals across therapy, education, healthcare, and community settings. The workshop welcomes professionals who are open to growth, reflection, and brave conversations, recognising that meaningful inclusion requires courage.

Rather than focusing on standalone techniques, COURAGE offers a structured way of understanding how practice actually works across systems. It explores how context shapes meaning, how meaning shapes communication, and how communication directly shapes outcomes for individuals, families, and services.

The training supports practitioners to move beyond assumed communication and individualised explanations of difference, and toward more intentional, accessible, and responsive ways of working. It also examines how systems influence practice decisions, and how ethical reflection can be embedded as an ongoing part of everyday work rather than a retrospective step.

COURAGE is particularly relevant for teams and services working across mental health, education, and family systems where neurodivergence, identity, communication differences, and complexity intersect.

This training is suitable for multidisciplinary teams and can be adapted for clinical, educational, and organisational contexts.

What You'll Explore

Throughout the workshop, participants will engage with:

  • The intersection of neurodivergence and gender/sexual diversity (neuroqueer identities)

  • Why traditional models of care and support often fall short, and what can be done differently

  • Systemic barriers within healthcare and education, and practical approaches to reducing harm

  • Reflection on personal and professional biases, assumptions, and practice habits that may require unlearning

  • Evidence-informed strategies for creating affirming, inclusive environments
