Speech Therapy

What does this look like:

At the Courageous Space we provide speech therapy for:

  • Language: This may include:

    • Language developing slower than expected or slower than peers.

    • Difficulty understanding or using language day to day

    • Not understanding or following instructions, tasks, or daily activities

    • Difficulty telling a story and sharing personal experiences.

    • Attentional differences or behavioural differences

    • Difficulty remembering what they’ve been told

    • Learning difficulties or challenges in the classroom, workplace, or other environment

    • Understanding and expressing thoughts, feelings, opinions.

    • Self-Advocacy e.g., Asking for help and expressing needs – this may be in the classroom, workplace, or other environments

    • Connecting with others confidently and comfortable in your own unique way

    • Experiencing communication breakdowns

  • Gender Affirming Voice and Communication:

    • You may want to explore your gender expression from a voice or communication perceptive. Here we acknowledge gender is a spectrum and how we express ourselves is unique and personal. We will explore your voice and communication goals and work with you to create more confidence and comfort in showing up as your authentic self.

  • Neurodivergent Affirming Assessment:

    • Here we complete formal language assessments for children, adolescents and adults. Our main goal is for you to better understand your (or your child’s) communication profile, meaning: what strengths you have with communication; what your preferences are; what areas you find tricky; and how this impacts everyday functioning. We also set goals with you to support your communication goals.
