Seanna Keeley (she/her)
I started my career in the community sector in NSW working with homeless youth. I moved to Brisbane and worked in the HIV+ sector until I graduated as a Social Worker. I worked at the Royal Children’s Hospital in the cochlear implant team and across a variety of hospital wards. I lived in the UK for 7 years working in a variety of government teams. Upon returning to QLD I returned to Hospital Social Worker in the sexual assault service and in paediatric teams. I worked in the Queensland Children’s Gender Service and then came into private practice.
My passion throughout my career has been working with the LGBTIQAP+ people. Over the last 8 years my passion has grown to working with the neurodivergent community as well. As a neuroqueer clinician I bring my lived experience and training to my therapy
Approach
I approach my work from a systemic lens, this means I explore how the systems we engage in (internal, relationships, work, school, politics, society) impact and influence our lives. I am an integrative family therapist, meaning I draw from a number of theories and frameworks such as Bowen, Strategies, Narrative, Structural. Being an integrative therapist allows me to adapt my approach to what the person or people in front of me need.
I work from a trauma informed position and will integrate neurobiological and somatic interventions in all my sessions to support trauma recovery. Self-compassion and strengths based are key principles in my work, helping people identify and tap into their own resources is integral to my therapy approach.
Sessions with me include exploring the systems you live in, understanding goals you have for therapy, increasing your insight and awareness to your life, connecting with different parts of yourself, gaining strategies to go through the harder parts of life and building or strengthening your support system.
