Mack Ash (he/him)
I am a registered psychologist and clinical psychology registrar. I have experience practicing in both regional and metropolitan settings. Due to my own lived experience, I often work with clients who identify as autistic, gender diverse or more broadly LGBTIQAP+. I am trained in assessment (including autism and WPATH assessments), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT).
Approach
I am committed to taking a person-centred, strengths-based and neuro-affirming approach in my practice as I strive to maintain cultural safety for all my clients. Above all, I aim to create a safe space to explore the messier aspects of our lives and experiences, particularly for those who are in a moment of transition or who are feeling unsure about their sense of self and belonging.
My approach is influenced by my experiences prior to training in psychology, when I studied law, gender and culture and spent time living in Czechia, Israel, New Zealand, Palestine, Scotland and Spain. These experiences gave me some familiarity with Baha’i, Christian, Jewish and Muslim traditions and in navigating the world through different languages. While I have since lost most of my Arabic, I still maintain a slightly clunky conversational ability in Scottish Gaelic and Spanish.
