Chloe Connelly (she/her)

Originally from Scotland, I moved to Australia 2 years ago and I have loved making Queensland my home. I completed my Master of Science in Occupational Therapy in Edinburgh, and prior to that trained as a Primary Teacher. I have 14 years’ experience working with children and young people, and their families, as well as four years' experience working with adults. I enjoy getting to know people of all ages and backgrounds, and supporting them to reach their full potential. I have experience working with a range of needs, including neurodevelopmental, mental health, and physical. In my most recent experiences, I have had a predominantly neurodiverse and mental health caseload, working with clients and families around: emotional regulation and co-regulation, self-care, routine, social skills, confidence, independence, and skills for entering the adult world. This has also included anxiety, friendship and relationship challenges, bullying, fears and phobias, and other complex mental health needs.

As both a neurodivergent OT and a member of the LGBTIQAP+ community, I understand the importance of feeling understood, respected and safe. I am passionate about creating a space where people feel empowered to be their authentic selves. I take a holistic and collaborative approach to therapy, recognising that every person is unique. No two people are the same, so I believe therapy shouldn't be either. Drawing on neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed and strengths-based principles, I work alongside clients to develop meaningful goals and practical strategies that fit their everyday lives, and allow them to participate in the activities which matter most to them.

Past clients have described me as calm, kind, approachable and easy to talk to. I have a natural ability to build rapport and help people feel at ease. Whatever the goal we're working on, I aim for my clients to leave their sessions feeling confident, heard and empowered. I adapt my sessions and respond to what each person needs on the day. Whether that's incorporating movement, adjusting the environment, or slowing the pace, my approach remains flexible and responsive to the individual, and I aim to create a space where clients can engage in a way that feels right for them.

I see myself as a lifelong learner, and regularly keep myself up-to-date with research and new findings.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending my time outdoors, with my new kitten or dancing (Hip-Hop).
