Commonly asked questions.

  • Your therapist will spend time getting to know you, your story, your strengths and areas you are experiencing challenges in. They may collect information about your developmental history and family. They may also ask you about previous and current supports you receive.

  • A session is approximately 50 mins long, unless you have requested a shorter, 30-minute session. Sessions being 50 minutes long allows your therapist time to write notes, do any follow up, and reset before seeing the next person so it is important this timeframe is stuck to. Family Therapy sessions will often be 90 mins as there is a lot more to cover with a lot more people in each session.

  • There is 2 hour free parking on the street. There is also free parking around the block and at Aldi and Woolworths (just one block away).

  • This will depend on the reason you are attending appointments at The Courageous Space, and what therapist you are seeing. For example, if you are needing a formal assessment, this may take between 3-4 sessions to be completed. Your therapy sessions will depend on your individual goals and needs.

  • Regretfully we do not have wheelchair access. There is one flight of stairs to our clinic. We provide Telehealth services so that everyone has access to our services.

  • We acknowledge and understand that finding the right therapist is very important. You may wish to consider these steps if you are unsure:

    • Talk to your therapist about what is helpful versus what is not helpful

    • Give it time. Relationships, including therapeutic relationships, take time. Allow for at least 3 appointments to see if you and your therapist are the right fit.

    • Be okay if you and your therapist are not the right fit! Your therapist will understand.
